Programs, not just get togethers

The Foundation runs four program areas. They share the same people and often the same weekend, but each one has its own purpose, its own standards and its own way of being measured.

Outdoor education and skills development

The fastest way to make outdoor recreation safer is to teach it properly, for free, to whoever turns up. Workshops run from complete beginner sessions to advanced skills, and everything we teach came out of the community learning it the hard way first.

Conservation and stewardship

This is the pillar that separates the Foundation from a club, and it is meant to be the most visible thing we do. Access to public land is a privilege that comes with work attached.

Community adventure and connection

Responsible outings that get people into Florida's natural environments and keep them coming back. These are built around community rather than competition. Nobody gets dropped and nobody gets left stuck.

Service and outreach

A community with capable vehicles, radios, recovery equipment and people willing to spend a weekend outdoors is a useful thing to have around when something goes wrong. We put that to work for other organizations.

Accessible camping, nature activities, beginner adventures and Junior Explorer sessions, built so a family with no outdoor equipment can still have a good day.

Radio communications and preparedness

GMRS and amateur radio, Parks on the Air activations and emergency communications, taught as safety equipment rather than as a hobby.
